Help with completing the non-resident income tax return

You can no longer make an appointment for assistance with filing your tax return.
  • Prepare the appointment

    • Help with completing the tax return by phone: how does it work?

      A staff member will call you on the set date.

      • If you have an appointment in the morning, the staff member will call you between 8.30 am and 1 pm.
      • If you have an appointment in the afternoon, the staff member will call you between 12 and 5 pm.

      Prepare all documents for the appointment that are related to your tax return and (if applicable) your Belgian national register number or your Belgian bis number.

      The staff member will complete your tax return with you. You will be asked to provide all information that may be useful for your tax return.

      The appointment takes about 15 minutes.

      About two months after your appointment, you will receive a document by post with the data you have provided. You have to respond to that document to complete the filing of your tax return.

    • What documents do I need?

      During the appointment, we will ask you to provide information from the following documents:

      • the complete tax assessment notice from the State of residence or the certificate from the tax administration of the State of residence for worldwide income
      • if you are married or in a legal cohabitation: a certificate of family composition, the marriage certificate ...
      • if you have dependent children: a certificate with the number of dependent children
      • if you or a member of your family has a disability: a 'disability recognition certificate’
      • if you have a mortgage loan that entitles you to a tax reduction: the mortgage loan certificate
      • any other document relating to your income or to your expenses that entitles you to a tax reduction

      If you have a Belgian national register number or a Belgian bis number, we will ask for this number during the appointment. We will also ask for your partner's number (if applicable).

    • I have made an appointment, but I have missed the call from the Federal Public Service Finance to have my tax return completed. What should I do?

      The staff member will leave a message and call you back a second time. You do not have to call back yourself.

  • After the appointment

    • Do I need to do anything after the appointment?

      Yes. You have to sign the details entered by the staff member over the phone in your tax return. There are two ways to do this:

      • You sign and return the paper confirmation document sent to you by post.
      • You go to MyMinfin and sign the tax return that is available there.
    • I have not received a confirmation document, what should I do?

      The paper confirmation document may take several weeks to reach you by post. So please be patient.

      If you have not received a confirmation document two months after the appointment, contact your tax office.

    • I have received a paper tax return form after my appointment

      If your tax return has been completed over the phone, you do not need to do anything with the paper tax return form.
