Paying for a nationality application or name change
-
Nationality application
You can also easily pay online via MyMinfin.be.
It is the easiest and quickest way to get your proof of payment.
- Log in to MyMinfin and under the tab ‘Mijn betalingen’ ('My payments'), go to the section ‘Een nationaliteitsaanvraag betalen’ (‘Paying for a nationality application’).
- Go through the different steps and pay 150 euros. Exception: granting Belgian nationality to minor children or regaining Belgian nationality is free. Keep in mind that you can only pay the nationality application for the person registered in MyMinfin.
- Within 24 hours, you can download the proof of payment in the tab ‘Mijn documenten’ (‘My Documents’). This proof of payment contains a digital signature from the FPS Finance (the so-called 'eSeal').
Are you unable to pay via MyMinfin? Call our Contact Centre at +32 2 572 57 57 or send an e-mail to the appropriate department. We will then explain step by step how to make a transfer to the account of the appropriate department using the right communication. Once we have received the payment, you will obtain the proof of payment. If you have activated the eBox, you will be notified accordingly. Otherwise, we will send the proof of payment to you by post, which may take a few days.

How can I check if my online payment through MyMinfin has succeeded?
If your payment has succeeded, you will find it in the section ‘Mijn online betalingen beheren’ ('Manage my online payments') under the tab ‘Mijn betalingen’ ('My payments'). You can also ask a question about your payment there.
Please note that this is not yet the official proof of payment, which you will find within 24 hours of payment in the tab ‘Mijn documenten’ ('My Documents').
-
Can I get a refund?
No, you cannot. We cannot refund you in full or in part even if you discontinue the procedure or the nationality application is refused.

-
Attach the proof of payment to your file and submit your application to the appropriate authority.
Without that proof of payment, your application is incomplete and cannot be dealt with. This means you will have to pay first and only then submit your application to the appropriate authority.
Moreover, the authority dealing with your case may still charge additional costs for translations, stamp duty, photocopies of the deeds and supporting documents to be added.
