About FPS Finance
Following the awarding of a new public contract, BNP Paribas Fortis will take over the federal government's public accounts from bpost during the weekend of 13 and 14 December 2025.
We have made every effort to ensure that this transition runs as smoothly as possible and to guarantee maximum continuity of service. However, there are a few things you need to bear in mind:
- The account numbers of all government accounts (IBAN) will remain unchanged. You can recognize these account numbers by the digits 679, which always appear in the 5th, 6th and 7th positions, e.g. BEXX 679X XXXX XXXX.
- For payments from abroad, it is important to use the BIC code of BNP Paribas Fortis, namely GEBABEBB, from 15 December 2025 onwards. Companies that use an accounting program in which the BIC code is filled in automatically should therefore adjust this in good time.
- Please take the freeze period into account. On Friday 12 December, bpost will close the federal government accounts. The transfer of the accounts to BNP Paribas Fortis will take place during the weekend of 13 and 14 December. To avoid a transfer being refused, we recommend that you do not make any (instant) payment to federal accounts on 12 December 2025.
In addition, between Friday 12 December and Sunday 14 December 2025, you will not be able to visit a post office to carry out transactions relating to federal accounts (payment of pensions, payment of fines, deposits into federal accounts, etc.).
- As postal orders are an exclusive service provided by bpost, it will no longer be possible to make payments via postal orders, and these will be replaced. Further details about the alternative procedure will follow.
